Over the past year, we have worked to unpack and understand how the institution of whiteness has created a culture where Donald Trump can be elected president, while Black and Brown people are continually discriminated against, abused, murdered, disenfranchised, endangered, and criminalized with impunity. In a city with the highest concentrated poverty among Black and Hispanic people in the nation, and a county with some of the most segregated schools in the nation, this is not just a Trump problem, this is an old problem and a local problem.

As an organization predominantly composed of white people seeking to act in solidarity with the marginalized, it is urgently crucial we dedicate our whole selves to this work. That means listening to, and following the lead of the directly affected, and educating ourselves on how to operate in social justice spaces while doing the least possible harm to the communities we wish to act in solidarity with.

If fighting white supremacy is something that’s important to you, you will not want to miss out on the opportunity to hear Didi Delgado’s voice on Friday November 3, 7pm at First UU.
