We would like to thank everyone who attended the Rapid Response training we had this past Sunday, March 26th, and we would especially like to thank all of the volunteers who have been helping us get the rapid response team off the ground. We want to make sure that we have an effective, quick and well trained rapid response team so we strongly encourage people to get involved and attend future trainings.
Just a few nights ago, March 23th, in Geneseo County, Geneseo Police Department pulled over a car and stopped two mothers with children and then turned them over to Border Patrol. The Worker Justice Center, Geneseo students, and other immigrants rights advocates responded quickly by showing up to the scene and documenting and protesting the arrest. The next day, March 24th, we learned that both women were released, though they are still in deportation proceedings. However, the fact that they were released so quickly is truly a testament of how important and effective rapid response work is.
